Pope Leo XIV Proclaims a Special Jubilee Year of St. Francis
St, Francis of Assisi died on the night of October 3rd, 2026. In honor of the 800th Anniversary of his death, Pope Leo has declared a Special Jubilee Year from January 10, 2026 through January 10, 2027. A Plenary Indulgence is available for all the faithful who visit a Franciscan church, including our own Holy Rosary Shrine, and fulfill the requirements outlined in the decree. More detailed information on the indulgence requirements will be coming soon or can be found on the internet.
The purpose of this consecrated year is that “every Christian faithful, following the example of the Saint of Assisi, may himself become a model of holiness of life and a constant witness of peace.” (Vatican Decree) More information will also be coming about special events at HRS as part of this Jubilee.
