You Prayed Him into Life
In the 1970s, outside a New York abortion clinic where Dr. Bernard Nathanson worked, a few elderly women knelt each morning praying the Rosary. They did not shout or argue, only whispered Hail Marys on the sidewalk. Nathanson later admitted that nothing troubled him more than “those old ladies with beads.” Their quiet faith pierced hearts in ways he could not explain.
One day, a young woman waiting for her abortion saw them through the window and felt, she said, that someone outside was praying just for her. She stood up, walked out, and chose life. After her baby was born, she returned and placed the child in the arms of one of the women, saying, “This is your baby too. You prayed him into life.”
Nathanson would later convert, calling the Rosary a power he once dismissed but could never defeat.
