Communion by Intinction

There have been various requests to be able to receive Holy Communion under both species. We would like to begin to offer this in the form of intinction. This means the priest or deacon dips the host into the Precious Blood before placing it on the tongue of the person receiving. For those who prefer to receive on the hand, they can do so but would receive the host only.

Intinction is an option allowed by the Church and shows forth the fullness of the Sacramental sign of the Holy Eucharist, especially the Sacrifice of Our Lord on the Cross when His blood was separated from His Body. It is also a far more sanitary means than that of many people receiving from the same chalice.

There will be more information and preparation to come but we are requesting help to purchase two Intinction sets. They are $795.00 each, although we are still searching for something less expensive but of worthy quality.

If you would like to contribute to this please contact the shrine office. Thank you!
