In the bulletin article for Palm Sunday, I wrote about the importance of Latin in the Liturgy and that we would be singing the Our Father in Latin during the Easter Season. As expected, some were not too happy but others loved it and would appreciate more.
My goal is to celebrate the Holy Mass according to the mind of the Church, especially as taught by the Second Vatican Council. The liturgical reform sought to allow for legitimate and appropriate diversity while maintaining the rich treasure of our tradition. The latter has been sorely lacking. It is worth noting that the great majority of the many young adults entering or returning to the Church favor traditional liturgical elements such as Latin, incense, Gregorian Chant and altar rails. They seek transcendence and reverence for the sacred, which is so lacking in the world.
With this in mind that we will continue to sing the Our Father in Latin on the last Sunday of each month. Thank you for your support and patience. Pax et Bonum! – Fr. Peter
